Waiting for the Dawn: A Magnetic Poetry Creation

It has been awhile since I worked with the online Magnetic Poetry Kit. I became inspired when I read Kat Myrman’s poem today. You might want to check out her blog as she writes a variety of poetry and more. Today I was thinking about waiting for the light. Click To Tweet

Waiting for Dawn

Brown bough wet with rain

Wind rustles through the forest

I walk beneath cover of night

Green grass thick and moist

an ancient pathway for my wanderings

I watch for the light to shine

Full on this beautiful world

Quietly listening as bird songs

Breathe fresh sweet harmony

Into our nature sanctuary

Sometimes I have trouble finding the right words for a poem. This afternoon it came together with only a little bit of a challenge. It is a fun exercise. If you have never done it I would highly recommend giving it a try. You might surprise yourself with what you create. Click To Tweet

I thought the following scripture fit in well with my poem, as it refers to our waiting for the return of Christ in all his glory. This is our sure hope.

2 Peter 1:19-21 The Message (MSG)

We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard—God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it.

It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts.

The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion.

And why? Because it’s not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word.

Happy, Alive, Beautiful and Free: A Butterfly Haiku

Today is Haiku Poetry Day. In honor of that I spent some time with the online Magnetic Poetry kit. Using one of my photos as a guide I wrote a haiku about a happy butterfly. Nature is always inspiring to me as I observe the beauty of God's creation. Click To Tweet

Spring Rains Encourage Growth, Beauty and Refreshment

Spring has not quite arrived, though it is very close. Click To Tweet
As I relax in my living room I hear the comforting sound of raindrops steadily falling.
This evening I spent some time with the online Nature Magnetic Poetry kit. Listening to the rain my thoughts were naturally drawn to words that might relate.

Refreshing Spring Rain

Spring rain softly falling
leaves earth pure and fresh

Squirrels wander about on
mossy forest boughs
as vine tendrils thrive
along wet tree trunks

I follow a covered path
where wild flowers shine
with beautiful vivid blooms

My soul grows full of love
At peace I breathe and relax

spring rain

Zechariah 10:1 (NIV)

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people,
and plants of the field to everyone.

It is the Lord who sends rain to water the earth and bring refreshment. May He give us rest and peace and enable us to bring refreshment to those we meet on this journey of life.May God water our souls with the rain of His mercy and grace. Click To Tweet

So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul—then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied. (Deuteronomy 11:13-15 NIV)

Stress: A Hindrance to a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful Life

My life is busy, and I’m sure yours is, too. Many of us don’t take enough time to rest and relax during the day. We just want to do one more thing, write one more page, clean one more area in our home, finish the blog post, finish editing the photograph, and the list goes on causing stress.

Sometimes I’m up really late at night trying to get a blog post just right. Maybe I’ve had trouble getting the photographs to upload, or formatting, or whatever it is, and I think I HAVE to finish before I go to bed. So I push myself and sometimes don’t finish until after midnight.

Why do I find it so hard to stop? Do you run into that problem?

Work cannot take all of our time. Life is meant to be enjoyed. We need to focus on what is at hand. When we are always thinking about the next thing, we aren’t really in the moment. Instead, we are stressing about whatever else we have lined up for the day. We don't need to be continually rushing from one thing to another. Click To Tweet

Our bodies need adequate rest and relaxation. Most of us suffer from too much stress, and I think part of that is because we don’t slow down. We don’t stop and notice the small things. It is important to find ways to eliminate stress in order to enjoy life and be healthy.

Health and Well-Being

Recently a good friend of ours had heart bypass surgery. Just last week he had a heart catheterization and blockages were found in several arteries. And suddenly he needed surgery. I’m sure that was not something he had in his plans, but he’s glad it was found in time to do something about it. He’s doing well, by the way.

That got me thinking about my own health and well-being. Click To TweetAt my latest doctor appointment I had a mostly good report. My blood pressure was a little high, but she did not seem overly concerned. However, the lower number, which is the resting heartbeat, was much higher than it should be.

With the recent surgery of my friend, and knowing that years ago my dad had the same thing, it was a wake up call for me. I immediately did some research to find natural ways to lower that diastolic pressure. Click To Tweet Turns out there are some simple things I can do to make a difference within a short period of time. I am already putting some of them into practice. One recommendation is to find ways to relieve stress.

Relieving Stress with Poetry

Earlier yesterday I spent time with the online Magnetic Poetry kit to write a poem and wanted to publish it last night. But I didn’t have a blog post to go with it. I almost pushed myself to finish last night. But I took my own advice and decided to set it aside until I had time today. Click To Tweet Believe it or not that took off some stress. There were only bits of time today to work on it, but I kept at it when I could and finally finished after supper. Here’s the poem. I hope you enjoy it!

A Beautiful Life

Listen to intuition
Rest and relax

Feel gentle breezes
Breathe deeply

Climb a tree
Let your soul blossom

Love always
Live a beautiful life

May we always be full of love and look for ways to encourage ourselves and others, looking to God for strength to become who we are meant to be. May we follow our dreams and use our talents to make the world a better place. Click To Tweet
