Sleep My Child, Be At Peace

Two years ago I published this poem on my former blog under the title  A Blessing for the Night. There were several nights where I had trouble getting to sleep. When the next night promised to be the same I decided to get up and write.  As a result, this poem was born.

[bctt tweet=”Maybe you have trouble sleeping sometimes, too.” username=”GaylWright”] I hope this blessing will help you relax and give you a sense of peace. Sometimes I come back to it when I can’t sleep at night.

Sleep in peace

Sleep My Child

Sleep, my child
Be at peace
God is watching
protecting, loving

Draw near to Him
Let yourself relax
Close your eyes
and sleep

Tomorrow will come
a brand new day
Fill it with love
joy and gratitude

Be a light to
those around you
Delight in beauty,
the ordinary of each day

Be a comfort to others
Let your spirit be at rest
Be a calming presence
in the storms of life

Love God
Love others
Love yourself
This is your calling

Sleep, my child
Be at peace
God is watching
protecting
loving

Draw near to Him
Let yourself relax
Close your eyes
and
sleep

What about you? What do you do when you can’t seem to settle down at night?

Do you have a favorite Bible passage you read or a song or a poem?

You are a comfort to me, Gayl. This was lovely on so many levels.
When it’s late and our weary minds wander, just knowing God gives us another tomorrow to fill with “love, joy, and gratitude”, what a blessing!
Thank you for sharing this with us. ?

    1. I am encouraged to know that I had a part in being a comfort to you. One the reasons for this blog is to encourage other women and bring glory to God.

Thank you so much for being here and for your encouragement, Gleniece. Many blessings to you, dear sister!
