Walk for Exercise and Refreshment

Welcome to Day 1 of #write31days. My theme is 31 Days to a Healthier Lifestyle. Each day I’ll share a bit from some of the categories I mentioned in my introductory postWalk is the prompt for the #FMF Write 31 Days, but that is something I did not do today except for the normal walking I do each day.

I have heard that taking a walk is not only good exercise but also refreshes your mind. In my experience I find that to be true. When the weather is comfortable I love to walk either around the property or in our neighborhood.

Walk around the property

Just being out in nature is a balm to my spirit. Looking around at the sky and trees, hearing the birds and insects and finding beauty usually gives me inspiration for writing. It’s a great stress reliever.

aking a walk with a friend or family member is even better unless you just need some alone time. If that is the case it’s a perfect time to pray or think deep thoughts. It’s great if you can work a walk into your daily schedule.

Exercise report for Day 1:

(My exercise routine was actually started a week early, but I’m reporting it here.)

I did my T-Tapp 15 minute workout at noon. Boy am I out of shape! It was hard and my legs are now sore. But I also have a good feeling about it. It’s one part of my plan to have a healthier body. I know if I am consistent it will get easier.

What about you? I’d love to know what things you like to do for exercise.

  1. Walking is my go-to exercise as well, simply because it also blows the cobwebs out of my head — and it’s not likely to injure me!

I’ve been trying to do some strength training as well. I’m determined to be able to get out of my chair when I’m 80!

Blessings on this journey of writing, Gayl!

    1. Walking is such a nice activity especially when the weather is a bit cooler. I sometimes just need a little motivation. It’s hard on my knees walking down the hill of our driveway, but it get easier the more I do it.

Thanks so much for visiting and for your continued encouragement, Michele. It is much appreciated! I appreciate you, too. Blessings to you!

    1. Yes! I just hope I can keep it up and establish some good habits. Sometimes it just takes a little motivation. 🙂 Thanks for your encouragement to me, Susan! Love you!

May God bless you and have a great weekend!

  2. What a beautiful property you have, Gayl! Such lovely photos are soothing to the soul. In looking at them I feel like I am being taken on a virtual walk, which is about the only kind I can really manage. Being housebound does have its drawbacks sometimes but I try to get outside whenever possible, even if it’s just to breathe a bit of fresh air! This looks like being an inspirational series. God bless you. Enjoy your walks! <3

    1. Thank you, Joy! I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos and that you were encouraged. I’m sorry you have to be housebound so much, but it’s great whenever you get to breathe some fresh air.

Many blessings to you dear, Joy. Thank you so much for being here and for your encouragement. It is much appreciated!

  3. I love your photos!! You captured nature so beautifully. Walking is my go to as I deal with chronic pain, it’s one of the best exercises that I can do at this point in my life. I love walking, because like you said it clears your head and/or it gives me a great opportunity to be by myself and pray. A lot of my prayers come from my walks. I really enjoy it. God bless you on this 31 day journey.

    1. Thank you, Shannan! Walking is my favorite exercise even though I haven’t done much of it recently. Now that the weather is finally cooling off I plan to get out and walk more.

I’m glad you enjoyed the photos! I love walking outdoors looking for something to photograph. It’s fun and relaxing and inspiring.

Thanks for sharing in my 31 day journey. Many blessings to you!
