STUDY
Study is the word prompt for Day 17 of #5MFW #write31days. As Christians, we need to study or examine our lives on a regular basis. Are we spending adequate time in the Word and in prayer? Do we care for our physical needs? Are we finding a balance in each area or are we catering to one area at the expense of another?
Before October came around this year I was trying to decide what theme to use for #write31days. At first I thought of sharing poems each day or just using the #5MFW prompts. But the more I thought about it the more I realized God was leading me to write about a healthy lifestyle. I knew that some things needed more attention to bring about balance.
STUDY TO DEVELOP A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
Now I am no expert on health, but as I examined my life I knew I needed to do something about mine. My weight is more than it should be and could cause severe health problems. I knew that, but I couldn’t seem to get into a routine of good exercise, nutrition or drinking enough water. Also as I studied my life I knew that my devotion and prayer life were also lacking.
As I brought up my ideas to some friends, everyone liked the idea of writing about my journey to a healthier lifestyle. And I thought, Why not? By committing to writing about it I had a way to keep myself accountable. Not only that, a benefit has been the many friends who are cheering me on even when I fall short. Another notable plus is that my posts have encouraged others in their unique journeys.
31 Days to a Healthier Lifestyle is past the halfway mark.
Have I come any closer to my goals? I have definitely made changes for the better. My morning devotion time is great as I read, study and pray for my friends and family. With exercise, eating smaller portions and drinking more water, I’ve been able to lose some weight.
This week I am with a daughter and her children. We’ll have fun, work together, talk and do homework. Maybe I’ll even be able to keep up with my exercise. Even if I fall behind in some areas, I know I can pick up again.
What about you? Do you have goals you’re trying to reach or do you feel like giving up? Remember that there is grace enough for all. I’m cheering for you!”The main thing is to keep showing up and taking those small steps.
