Rest is Essential for a Healthy Lifestyle

REST IS ESSENTIAL

This is Day 30 of my 31 Days to a Healthier Lifestyle series. Rest is one of the categories I mentioned as important in my introductory post. Since the 30th day of #write31days fell on a Sunday, I thought it would be a perfect day to focus on rest. Rest is essential to finding balance in our lives.

rest

We all need a day of rest no matter what our weeks are like. Sunday is often the day we choose since many work schedules go from Monday through Friday. Besides taking a day off, we might need to take some time each day for periods of relaxing.

My husband likes to take a nap every day, and that is a good practice. I, on the other hand, find it hard to stop for a nap. [bctt tweet=”For me an afternoon tea time is a perfect way to rest.” username=”GaylWright”] I do have to watch myself, though, for sometimes I spend way too much time on social media.

During this series I realized that rest is an area I need to work on. Maybe I should heed the words in Matthew 11 where Jesus tells us to come to Him when weary.

How about you? Do you find it hard to stop and rest? Or does it come easy to you?

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Diana! Sometimes, if I’m really tired, I will take a short nap, but it’s not my usual practice. Thank you for your encouragement. Blessings to you!

  1. Dear Gayl, Oh yes, God keeps speaking the word “rest” to me as well! Even though I have had to change my pace and move much more slowly now, there is still something to be said to just rest with Jesus, and step away–even in thoughts–from all of the busyness that the world takes us into. Thank you for sharing your journey to healthier living with us! You have been an encouragement to me. I hope your time away has proven so restful! –Blessings to you!

    1. Dear Bettie, Thank you so much for your encouragement these past 31 days. It has been a pleasure getting to know you a little. Maybe one day we’ll be able to meet in person. 🙂

We are having a restful time and some precious time with our daughter and her family. The grandchildren are so sweet and full of hugs and kisses.

      Many blessings to you! xo

    1. Time seems to slip away when I’m reading blogs or checking facebook, etc. It will take some discipline and wisdom to step away and limit how many places on the web I visit each day.

Blessings to you, Tara! Thank you so much for all your encouragement throughout this 31 days.

  2. I learned the be efit of a nap this summer and it’s revolutionized my world. A half hour is all I need to reboot my day even if it’s only to re st my eyes and mind from the nonstop uptake of information. You should try it.

    1. Lisha, I know I need to try it. There is too much information stimulation, and I need to let a lot of it go. I am going to make a greater effort to have some rest each day if only for 10 or 15 min.

Thank you for your encouragement, sweet Lisha. Many blessings to you!
