Yesterday in the late afternoon I took a walk outside. The autumn sun was going down but still sent fingers of light weaving in and out among the trees.
Drinking in the beauty of creation on this crisp, clear day brought refreshment.
I felt restless this morning, because I wanted to write something that would convey my thoughts on this lovely time of year. Somehow I wanted to connect the writing with photos taken on my walk.
While looking at the photos, my fingers began to type the first words that came to mind hoping to create a poem. Suddenly I realized I could eliminate a few words to turn it into an autumn day haiku.
Sunshine, gentle breeze
Leaves crunching under my feet
Perfect autumn day
After that I spent time viewing photos and writing haiku and would love to share them with you. Won’t you join me? It will almost be like we are walking together enjoying the beauty. May you be blessed and refreshed.
Trees full of color
Red and yellow, green and brown
Lovely autumn day
Cat perched on fence post
Dog resting on bed of leaves
Lazy autumn day
Red petals, green leaves
Tiny rose still blooming full
Pretty autumn day
FEELING BLESSED THIS AUTUMN DAY
Later while leaning against the front of my house, squatting down a bit I took this next photo. From the fragrant red roses to the garden to the blueberries and ending with the foothills in the distance, it captures a lot from this place I call home. God has blessed and I am truly thankful.
Wherever you are or whatever you are doing, remember to take time for rest and refreshment.
Let’s fully engage in each moment and give thanks for even the smallest blessings. May we remember to show love and grace with kindness, and may our hearts be at peace. May we embrace the gifts God has given us.
Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.
