WALKING TO ENJOY
Walking to enjoy the outdoors is a favorite pastime of mine. On this particular walk the air has a chill and is cloudy, but you can still see plenty of deep blue sky. At first I go down the hill to get the mail. While standing at the bottom of the driveway heading back up I look forward. On this particular walk the air has a chill and is cloudy.
I notice the tall tree losing its leaves while the short, full evergreen surrounds it like a hug.The driveway curves around and up, but I decide not to walk that way.Instead, turning to the left I keep walking along the bottom of the hill and spy this maple leaf. Its yellow color stands in contrast to the dull brown and bit of green.
I continue to walk across the yard and look up towards the house. Everywhere I look in the sky, the view is practically the same – puffy white clouds floating in a sky of cobalt blue.
Next, I turn and look behind me upwards to the sky and this beautiful sight met my eyes. While looking at the beauty I had to linger for a bit.
Don’t you just love the fluffy clouds and the blue sky? It seems like God put them there partly for our enjoyment.
COMING TO THE GARDEN AREA
When I get to the top of the hill I walk across the yard and up into the garden area. Many things are still growing, but I really love to see these miniature roses blooming in December.
Then I wander around to the back of the house taking more pictures. This big old oak tree is so tall and strong. It’s almost like a faithful sentry keeping watch over the house.
I love the contrasting dark trunk and branches with the rich blue and white of the sky and clouds. What better way to end our photographic walk than with this magnificent view of the setting sun!

After I took the walk and reviewed the pictures, this scripture came to mind:
Psalm 19:1-6
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
Because I love the beauty of the area where I live, I wanted to share some of it with you. I pray that you were blessed while walking along with me. Most of all I pray these photos awaken a sense of awe in us for our Creator. May we praise Him for His wonderful works.

Wow! You are so blessed to live where you do! I loved a glimpse into your yard and surroundings. It looks so beautiful and peaceful.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes, Karen, I do appreciate the beauty here. When we first looked at the house years ago, I was a little scared of the hill because we had little ones, but it wasn’t a problem. What I did love then and still do now is the view and the fact that out my kitchen window I see the woods.
Thank you for visiting and for your sweet comments. Many blessings to you!
Beautiful, got to see the beauty of the outdoors while in the big city of LA. Such peace.
Yes, there is peace to be found in the outdoors. Even when there is a storm I still love to look out and sometimes sit on the porch unless the lightning comes too close. 🙂
Thank you for visiting. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos! Blessings to you, Amanda!
Dear Gayl, Yes! “May we praise Him for His wonderful works.” The beauty of your walk through your area certainly stirs up His praises in me. I miss being able to take the long walks that I was used to, so I always appreciate the photos you post of any of your walks. We live in a wooded area also (although much smaller than where you are,) so I am continually taken by the beauty that God has created! Thank you so much for sharing, and reminding me of the beauty all around! Hugs and Blessings! xo
Bettie, thanks for being such a faithful reader and commenter! I appreciate you so much. I’m so glad my pictures help you bring praise to God. I know you miss the long walks and I thought of you when I was taking the photos. At first I wondered if anyone would really be interested in hearing about my walk. Then I thought of you!
Many blessings to you and lots of hugs! xo
Gayl, I love it when you offer us a virtual walk by virtue of your lovely photographs! Though I don’t get outside much and walking any distance is a thing of the past, I really appreciate you sharing the sights you see in your backyard. And I say a yes and amen to this: “Don’t you just love the fluffy clouds and the blue sky? It seems like God put them there partly for our enjoyment.” As an avid cloud-watcher I couldn’t agree more.Thank you for this welcome breath of fresh air, and accompanying snow! 🙂 xo
Joy, thank you! You and Bettie are so faithful to comment and bring me encouragement. I’m so glad I can bring some joy to you with my photos! I really love watching clouds, they can change so quickly.
So glad you stopped by today. Thanks for noticing the snow!
Blessings to you along with love and hugs! xo
