This week the prompt for the weekly haiku challenge at Ronovan Writes are the words Car & Coast. Mine came from some memories of the past.
IN THE CAR ON THE BEACH
Where I grew up in Florida there were places on the beach where you could still drive your car along the sand. This haiku came from those memories.
Riding in the car
Making tire tracks on the sand
Waves crash along coast

DOWN THE HILL
While living in New Jersey, there was a back road with a big hill that my husband and daughters would take on their way home from school. In the winter, with snow on the ground, they would have a bit of fun. [bctt tweet=”My husband would turn off the motor, open the windows and coast down the hill. ” username=”GaylWright”]I guess it gave them a feeling of being in a sleigh! The following haiku was drawn from those memories.
Riding in the car
Open windows, turn off gas
Coast right down the hill

I love your haiku and your picture of the waves breaking on the beach!
Thank you, Ruth. 🙂 I took the picture last year when I was on the Gulf coast of FL. It’s the place where I lost my sunglasses. LOL They weren’t expensive so no big loss.
Dear Gayl, What sweet memories to share through your words! Again, I felt that I was right there with you. It’s amazing to me how such a simple and short form like Haiku can portray such a beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing friend. Blessings and Hugs to you!
Dear Bettie, I’m so glad you stopped by and glad you enjoyed them. 🙂 I really love the challenge of writing haiku.
Blessings and hugs right back to you! xo
I love how you have embraced writing haikus. I always think that I would like to give it a try sometime and I should. It brings back memories of elementary school when I was learning how to first create them. Blessings my friend!
