This week’s weekly haiku challenge at Ronovan Writes are the words Love & Light. With so much pain and darkness in the world, these prompt words inspire hope. I wasn’t quite ready to write on Monday when the prompts came out. Sometimes it takes a while for me to find the words for the haiku.
This afternoon some thoughts came to me, and the result was four haiku.
Love Turns Darkness to Light
Darkness turns to light
With kindness and charity
Peace is within reach
Where has the light gone
Truth hides away in darkness
Love opens the door
Sitting in darkness
Candles bring soft glowing light
To this cozy place
In this crazy world
Love and light go hand in hand
Life can be enjoyed
~gsw~
Kindness and love go a long way to spread hope and peace in this world.
Our Lord came into the world because He loved us. He brought hope and light into the darkness. Even when our circumstances are hard, we can find strength as we trust in God. He will always be with us.
(Psalm 33:20-22)
We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.

Gayl, These are such beautiful Haiku this week! And of course I love the photo of the woods. But I think this stanza is my favorite:
“Where has the light gone
Truth hides away in darkness
Love opens the door”
This paints a wonderful picture of what God’s Love does to open the door and let the light in, revealing the truth! I needed this encouragement tonight, as I pray for dear ones. Thank you for sharing God’s heart! Love & Hugs, my Poet Friend! xo
Bettie, thank you so much. Yes, I like that stanza, too, for the same reason as you. 🙂 So glad you found encouragement here. I really believe God puts things on our minds to share just when we and other people need them.
Love and hugs to you, too, my lovely friend! Blessings! xo
This is beautiful. And it is so true, when there isn’t light the truth hides in the shadows of darkness.
Thank you, Amanda. I really appreciate your encouragement. I’m glad you stopped by. Blessings to you!
Beautiful!
Thank you so much, Loretta! Hope you have a great weekend.
Blessings to you!
Gayl, I love all four gorgeous haiku! Great offerings all round. And I agree with Bettie. Those particular lines are a beautiful reminder of the way God’s light shines in the darkness and can never be extinguished or overcome. No matter how dark the night may get, dawn always comes. Thank you for these uplifting words! Bless you, dear sister/poet/friend. xo ??
Thank you so much, Joy! I’m so glad you love the haiku. The lines you and Bettie mentioned are also my favorite. I don’t think it hurts to keep before us the reminder that God’s light always shines through.
So glad you were encouraged. Many blessings and much love to you dear friend! xoxo
All your haikus are beautiful, Gayl. I especially love this one:
“Where has the light gone
Truth hides away in darkness
Love opens the door”
As you wrote, love and light bring so much hope in the all the pain and darkness in this world. I really love the photo of the woods, too! Have a blessed weekend!
Trudy, thank you so much! That one seems to be a favorite of others, too. I’m glad you like them and the photo of the woods. That was taken while standing on my back porch.
Blessings to you!
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it. This was one of my fave poems of yours.
Thanks, Tara! And it’s true the darkness can never overcome the Light of Truth!
Blessings to you!
Gayl- what a beautiful haiku! Love and Light are the way through the darkness!
I think that’s what we’re missing in our culture, true love and the light of Jesus!
#DancewithJesus
Thank you, Julie! I agree with you that the true love and light of Jesus seems to be missing in our culture. But I also see glimpses of it piercing the darkness. 🙂
Blessings to you!
