After doing some cleanup inside, I decided to enjoy some time on the porch. I love the views we have.
[bctt tweet=”Being outdoors is refreshing and helps to calm me.” username=”GaylWright”] The temperature was mild and the sky was overcast, though some blue was peeking through. A light breeze was causing lovely sounds to come from the chimes. I had to snap a few pictures.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. (Psalm 19:1-2)
When I came back inside, I felt relaxed and happy. As I looked at the pictures I wrote some poetry in the form of haiku. I hope you enjoy them and find some time in your day to relax a bit outside if the weather permits.
Front Porch Views
Bunny sits and stares
From his place on my front porch
Does he wish for life?
Here I sit alone
In my wooden rocking chair
Taking in the view
Peaceful and serene
Time to write and contemplate
While I take a rest
Silly, furry cat
Pushing on my journal hard
Wants to take its place
Sitting outside, listening and observing reminds me of the power of God and His handiwork. [bctt tweet=”May we all find time each day to pause and praise our Creator who gives us life and hope!” username=”GaylWright”]
Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
Sing the glory of his name;
make his praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power
that your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth bows down to you;
they sing praise to you,
they sing the praises of your name.”

Dear Gayl,
Thank you for sharing some moments in your day! It felt like I was right there with you, on your porch. I think I love the first Haiku most, since it’s about the bunny that we share! Yesterday my little Grandson had to stop and talk to the bunny on his way running back & forth up our hill. Aren’t these times in God’s beauty so refreshing to our souls? Happy Mother’s Day to you Dear Friend! xoxo
Thank you, Bettie. I’m glad we share the bunny. 🙂 Love hearing about your grandson stopping and talking to it. Yes, I agree these times are refreshing to our souls and our bodies.
Blessings to you and Happy Mother’s Day Sweet Friend! xoxo
I’m sittling on my porch as I read your wonderful poetry. I have that very same journal. I love the big pages so my words can spread out. Thanks for the encouragement to enjoy the day! Visiting from Inspire Me Monday.
Thanks for visiting, Ginger! I’m glad you enjoyed the poetry. That’s cool we have the same journal. Mine was a gift from my daughter and I love it! Have a wonderful day!

Gayl, no wonder you feel: “Peaceful and serene/Time to write and contemplate/While I take a rest” in such beautiful surroundings! What a lovely place to pause and contemplate. I love the haiku that have emerged from your time on the porch. If I had a view like that I would be seriously tempted to sit there all day, just drinking it in! You bring an air of outdoor freshness to your verse, as well as your photographs. Any time I get to spend outside it is always calming and restorative. May you continue to be blessed and refreshed, creatively and spiritually, just like you refresh all who stop by here to savour your lovely words and relaxing atmosphere. Blessings and hugs to you, dear friend! xoxo
Thank you, Joy! Yes, I love being out there and need to do it more often. Your comments are so encouraging to me. You and Bettie are so faithful to comment and interact with my words, and that is a blessing to me.
May you also be blessed and refreshed. Blessings and hugs to you, too! xoxo
