Ocean Waves, Children and Treasures

Whether calm and peaceful or wild and furious with waves crashing along the shore, the ocean is a force to be reckoned with.

Ocean & Shore are the prompt words this week for the weekly haiku challenge.

You can find all the information for the weekly challenge at Ronovan Writes.  My first haiku comes from thoughts of the crashing of waves especially during a storm.

For the second haiku I thought of the fun some of my grandchildren had on a recent trip to the beach.

Treasures On the Beach

For the past few years my husband and I have spent a week on the Gulf coast of Florida. His siblings  meet us there and we enjoy time together. We usually find interesting treasures while walking on the beach.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my trio of haiku. Maybe they have inspired you to write your own. If you do, please share in the comments and be sure to check out #RonovanWrites.

Psalm 107: 24, 25, 29, 30

They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.

He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.

  1. Dear Gayl,
These are such beautiful photos and Haiku. And you found the perfect Scripture to combine with all of them. We don’t live close to the Ocean, but we do live close to lakes. And just like the moodiness that you described for the ocean, lakes can have that same changeable atmosphere around them. Your words captured the feelings that get stirred up in my soul when I get out by the water! Thank you so much, Dear Friend! Hugs and Blessings to you! xoxo

    1. Dear Bettie,
Thank you for your kind words. I think you must enjoy being near the water like I do. 🙂 We’ve camped near lakes and I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere.

Many blessings to you with love and hugs! xoxo

    1. It sounds like your family has a lot of fun! I love walking along the beach. We lived fairly near when I was growing up in Jax., FL. We would sometimes have picnics on the beach, although the wind was always strong so our food got gritty. 🙂

Have a great week! Blessings to you, Bethany!

  2. Love, love, love this post and your gorgeous photos! Reminds me of last summer when we happened up on a sea turtle rescue…a raccoon had dug down into the hole where the turtle eggs were, and rescuers were trying to get as many of the hatchlings to the ocean as fast as possible. We saw them take their first few steps on the sand and then scamper into the wide, blue ocean. Just amazing! Many blessings to you!

    1. Beth, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the poems and photos! What a cool story about the sea turtle rescue! That must have been really exciting, especially to see them taking steps to the sea. 🙂 I can imagine it would be pretty amazing.

      Many blessings to you, too!
