Fishing and Enjoying Views on the Lake

We are enjoying a vacation at my brother-in-law’s house on a lake in Maine. With beautiful views and a place for fishing, there is something for all. Every day I sit outside by the lake enjoying the view, writing in my journal and composing poems. It is a refreshing change and a great way to relax.

Good place for fishing

Our little group consists of my husband and I, two of our sons and a friend. My sons had never fished before, but their friend loves fishing. I thought it would be fun to use photos and haiku to give you a taste of their excitement and diligence.

Fishing

First time fishermen
Aided by a patient friend
What a joy to see

Fishing poles and bait
Casting out and reeling in
Hoping for a catch

Floating bobber sinks
There’s a tugging on the line
Pull up and reel in

Ten more fish were caught
On that lazy afternoon
All were pretty small

Sometimes no fish bite
Patience then comes into play
As they sit and wait

They will not give up
Every day they try again
Hoping for success

This might be the day
Fish for eating will be caught
What a tasty treat

They caught some small mouth bass!

  1. Dear Gayl,
I am so glad you are having this opportunity for rest! What beautiful views! I can just feel the inspiration coming through your words and photos. While we are having a late bit of summer warmth here, I sure hope to take the short drive to our lake this weekend also! Blessings and Hugs to you up North! xoxo

    1. Thank you, Bettie. This rest is so helpful and relaxing. I’m glad you enjoyed the words and photos. Have a wonderful time on your trip to the lake. Many blessings and hugs to you, too, dear sister! xoxo

  2. Glad I’m finally getting to read this.
My boys love fishing, and I don’t really get it, but they will crawl out of bed early on a summer morning to go fishing and act as if it is the greatest adventure of all.
    Looking forward to our meeting!

    1. I’m not much into fishing either, Michele, but it gives me joy to see the boys enjoy it so much.

I’m also looking forward to our meeting!

      Blessings to you! xo
