CREATE WITH WHAT YOU HAVE
Welcome to Day 3 of #write31days. The 31 Day Five Minute Friday word is create. As I have said in another post, I believe everyone has the ability to create in some way. After all, we are created in the image of the great Creator. We cannot create out of nothing like God, but we can create with what we have on hand. Each of us have imaginations and abilities unique to us.
Some are able to make beautiful and wonderful creations for all to enjoy. Some do simple things using whatever is on hand. Others can make art out of trash. All are valid ways to be creative.
Even making a fire in a pit can be a creative act.
Who doesn’t love sitting around a campfire watching the flames and sometimes sparks flying out? The person setting up the fire gathers and arranges the wood so that all can be set aflame.
Mostly my haiku during this series will be nature related, as in things found naturally outdoors. But a campfire in a way is a part of nature. After all, wood is used to make the fire. While in Maine, we enjoyed sitting around the fire several nights. Sometimes we would read the Bible, pray and have some good discussions.

Let’s go make some s’mores
Here is a short video. Try to imagine yourself sitting there with us eating s’mores and enjoying a wonderful time.

Creativity certainly does wear many faces, which allows space for such a wide variety of things. My fireside experiences are largely limited to the home indoor, watching flames licking around coal and wood kind, or joining fellow Girl Guides in singing and toasting marshmallows around the camp fire!
Having a fire pit in the garden must be lovely. You really bring the experience to life here, Gayl, but I’m afraid you lost me though at “s’mores”, as I have no idea what they are. Blessings and love! xo 😊 💜
S’mores are an American treat, I guess. We roast marshmallows around the fire and when they are done we stick them between graham cracker squares that have a piece of a chocolate bar inside. The hot marshmallow melts the chocolate and you have a tasty treat. 🙂
We enjoyed our time at my brother-in-law’s lake house in Maine. Now that we are home, the boys want to make a fire ring here so we can continue sitting around the fire in the evenings.
Love and hugs to you with lots of blessings! xoxo
They sound delicious! Bet they’re a favourite with the children especially. I hope you get to enjoy a fire ring in your own back yard. How lovely that would be on cold wintry evenings. Your post alone has warmed my heart today. Thank you! Blessings, love and hugs. xoxo
They are delicious. Even grownups enjoy them. 🙂 Glad to have a part in warming your heart. <3
Love and blessings and hugs! xoxo
I love how you took something like fire and made us part of the creative process. I think sometimes God is doing things in our lives that we can’t imagine and we are the instruments he uses and he is the fire. With God’s help we can create something beautiful. Great job with create!
Thanks, Amanda. I love how you brought up that God works in ways unknown to us. He uses us even when we think we aren’t doing anything. He gives strength and through us encourages others.
Blessings to you! xo
nothing better – a s’mores night anywhere – maybe especially in Maine!
Absolutely! 🙂 They are definitely a treat! Thanks for visiting, Sue!
Blessings to you!
I always think campfires looks so cozy, Gayl. And smores! Yum! Unfortunately, my lungs can’t handle any kind of smoke. 🙁 But I’m so glad you get to enjoy it! 🙂 Cozy hugs!
Yes, they are definitely cozy, Trudy! 🙂 Yes, it’s a problem when the smoke bothers you like that. We don’t use the wood stove in our house because the smoke bothers me. I can handle a little bit outside but not every day.
Thanks for visiting, Trudy! Blessings and hugs to you! xo
Great Haiku, Gayl. Now I want some s’mores! xo
Thank you, Bette! Wish you could have joined us there! 🙂
Blessings to you! xo
Dear Gayl,
I am so thankful that you are always willing to share your creativity with us here! You inspire and motivate me to keep my own eyes open to look for ways that God would allow me to be creative. And you are so right, that creativity can come in so many different ways! Love and Hugs and Blessings to you!
Dear Bettie,
It encourages me to know that I inspire and motivate you. 🙂 I love it that there are so many ways to be creative, really unlimited….
Blessings and hugs to you! xoxo
There’s nothing like a good campfire to create conversations amongst strangers and family alike!
You are so right, Anita. We had some of our best conversations around the fire at night.
Blessings to you!
I love this and I am getting intrigued about trying to write Haikus myself. Thank you for showing us another way for us to create!
Thanks, Mary! Haiku really is fun to write. It can be a challenge, but it’s a great exercise!
Blessings to you! xo
Sitting by the campfire is one of my fave things in the world!
Mine, too, Tara. There’s just something soothing about it. I love it!
Blessings to you! xo
What wonderful memories.
Yes, definitely! 🙂
Blessings to you, Susan! xoxo
Yes! We all have something within God gives us to create and share. Amen! (and I love firepits myself..)
We do all have something to share even if we think we don’t. Sometimes fear holds us back. But God will give us courage and wisdom and strength. Glad you like firepits, too!
Blessings to you!
