AN INVITATION
Who doesn’t love to get an invitation? It could be to a birthday party or wedding shower or a fall bonfire or campfire. It’s fun to join with others and have a good time.
Sometimes, though, it tires us to be around a lot of people. We need time alone to relax, read a book, take a warm bath or just plain rest. So we invite ourselves to our own private party.
Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened and He will give us rest.
Who doesn’t need rest? With all our busyness we can easily forget to sit at the feet of Jesus, like Mary did. I know when I do take the time to read the Bible, pray and meditate I have a much better attitude about my day.
NO NEED TO WORRY
Sometimes I begin to worry about circumstances and people in my life. Then I remember to accept the invitation of Jesus to come to Him and lay my burdens at His feet.
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Now I would like to invite you to revisit some of my older haiku with photos. May you find refreshment and rest.

I used that verse in my post today too. As an introvert, I need my alone time once in awhile.
It’s a wonderful verse, isn’t it? 🙂 Alone time is important.
Blessings to you, Tara! xo
Dear Gayl,
Thank you for the invitation to see into a little of your heart, as you share some of your beautiful Haiku from throughout the seasons! And, I think that your invitation fits so well with the invitation that Jesus gives. He lays His Word before us and invites us to see into His heart there! What rest we find when we do that. Thanks for this encouragement today, my friend! Hugs & Love to you! xoxo
Thank you, Bettie, for your continued sweet encouragement. Many blessings to you with hugs and much love! xoxo
Your poems are so lovely. Thanks for sharing. The picture on the road with fall foliage was my favorite.
Thank you, Mary. I love that one, too. I took the photo on the Smoky Mountain Parkway!
Blessings to you! xo
Gayl, your lovely haiku, delightful photographs and thoughtful prose are a beautiful accompaniment to the words of Jesus. They lead us into a deeper appreciation of the created world around us and serve as a timely reminder to slow and still our souls. Thank you for offering such a gracious and welcoming pausing place here! May your weekend be rich in rest, joy and peace. Blessings and love! xoxo 😊 💜
