Because God Created Us, We Can Create

Welcome to Day 25 of #write31days. Because is the prompt word for the Five Minute Friday Free Writes. This word is often used when giving a reason for something in answer to a question asking why. Sometimes people give it as a one word answer, which really doesn’t answer a question at all.

Why are people able to create things? My reasoning is because God created us in His image.

He is the great Creator who made heaven and earth out of nothing.

We can’t bring forth something from nothing, but we can use materials we have to create a new thing. We also use words to create stories and poems for others to enjoy.

Standing on my porch

Gazing at the clouds and trees

What a pretty sight

Because I live rural
Taken from my front porch this afternoon.

Because I live in a rural area, I can go outside and enjoy the trees and sky. I listen to the sounds of birds, insects, the wind rustling the leaves and more. Whether it is sunny or rainy, I enjoy the view right from my front porch. A lot of my poetry is inspired by the time I spend there.

Because God made a beautiful world, I can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

Also from my front porch this afternoon.

Sometimes the sky is clear with very few clouds. Another day the clouds may be constantly changing shape. When dark clouds fill the sky I know that rain is probably not far behind. The beach is a good place to watch the clouds.

I write poetry and take photos, not only because I love it, but to brighten the day for others.

You might use other means like painting or drawing or cooking, etc. to create something beautiful to share. No matter what we do, we can use our talents to bring glory to God and encourage others. Sometimes our gifts are unseen, like when we spend time in prayer for another, but they are just as important.

What inspires you? How do you find ways to be creative in your life?

  1. This post reminds me of youth, when we still believe we can conquer and do anything, before the enemy steps in and plants serious doubts and fears. Sometimes it takes a simple day of observing the natural wonders around us to remind ourselves that with him, all things are still possible. Visiting from Porch Stories.

    1. Deanna, thank you for your insightful comment. Yes, the enemy can fill us with lies and fears and doubts. It does help to stop every now and then to open our eyes and really see the beauty around us. And yes, it does remind us of how great God is, and how great things can be accomplished with Him.

Thanks so much for visiting. Blessings to you!

  2. Gayl, I’m not surprised to hear how much your time outside and lovely porch views inspire you. They just breathe serenity and calm. A perfect recipe for creativity to be stirred! Your words and images certainly do bless, inspire and encourage others. Our joy in creating is multiplied by bringing those things as a holy kind of offering for those who receive them. And yes, prayer is a huge gift and one that again blesses both recipient and giver. Great thoughts, my friend! Blessings and love. xo 💜

    1. Joy, I’m so thankful to live where I do to be able to sit and relax enjoying the view. I’m glad to know that God does use my work to bless others. It brings me great joy, and as you said it is multiplied when given as an offering to others. With prayer, I know it is a powerful tool and means to worship God and bless others.

Blessings and love to you, dear friend! xoxo

  3. Dear Gayl,
These are such lovely words and images today. I think that the word “because” would have been a very difficult word to combine with nature and Haiku, but you have gotten to the heart of why we are creative! Thank you for sharing these great thoughts, and reminding us to let the God-given heart within us come awake and respond to Him! Blessings, love and hugs to you!

    1. Thank you, Bettie! I believe God is helping me find the words and photos to convey my heart and encourage others. May we always “..let the God-given heart within us come awake and respond to Him!” Thank you for your insights!
Blessings, love and hugs right back to you, dear sister! xoxo
