Search for Truth, Hope and Beauty

SEARCH FOR TRUTH

Search is the prompt word for Day 17 of the Five Minute Friday 31 Days of Free Writes. It’s important to search for truth, hope and beauty in this world.

Psalm 139:1-5, 17-18, 23-24

Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away. You observe my travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue, you know all about it, Lord. You have encircled me; you have placed your hand on me.

God, how precious your thoughts are to me; how vast their sum is!If I counted them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; when I wake up, I am still with you.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.

All of Psalm 139 is comforting to me, though I only quoted a few of the verses. God knows me better than I know myself. That could be a little scary except I know that He loves me. Consequently, to know that He also thinks about me, surrounds me and put His hand on me, makes me feel safe.

He knows my deepest desires and dreams. In fact, He may have put some of those desires in my heart. I may have to do some searching of my own to find some of those dreams.

GOD KNOWS MY CONCERNS AND SHORTCOMINGS

God knows all my concerns and my shortcomings, but He still loves me. Today I complained about our messy house. We’ve done some rearranging and that always makes more clutter before it is finished. I was focusing on the clutter and not on the progress.

God knew what I was going to say before I said it. Yet, He still forgives and changes my heart.

He blesses me and gives me peace, even when I am struggling. This evening in preparation for writing my post, I read Psalm 139. I also listened to encouraging music, and my attitude began to change. As a result, I wanted to praise God for His love for me.

SEARCH FOR TRUTH, HOPE, LIGHT AND BEAUTY

Even in my normal everyday life I may find a glimmer of light and hope. Therefore, I need to keep my eyes and ears open to the beauty in the midst of the mess.

search

God searches my heart and leads me as I search for truth, hope, love and beauty in this world. He gives me strength and courage, therefore I can rise up and soar with joy giving praise to Him.

Psalm 37:4 (CSB)

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

  1. Thanks for sharing, Gayl. We’ve been told that when God is all we have, what we have then, is all we need. We no longer have to go through life searching for what we think we need. We’ve been fitted for life! Blessings to you.

  2. So very precious. I am thankful that God puts that desire in us to search for His beauty and truth. Even as He searches our hearts, He stirs up that longing in us to search as well. I love this “He gives me strength and courage, therefore I can rise up and soar with joy giving praise to Him.” Amen! Blessings, love and hugs to you! xoxo

  3. Gayl, this is calming and beautiful. Your collages are exquisite! I love them all. They’re like parables in themselves. I was particularly touched by this one: “Find truth, hope and love. Rise and shine. Soar with joy.” Oh to be able to do just that! Thank you, dear friend. Your daily offerings are truly lovely. xoxo

    1. Joy, thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy the collages. Your comment encourage me so much. Thank you for being a wonderful friend. Blessings to you with hugs and much love! xoxo
