HELP FROM GOD
The word prompt for Day 22 is help. My first thoughts went to this verse in Psalms:
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
In my art, my writing and everything I do, God is always with me. He gives strength, wisdom and courage to finish the task at hand. The faith and hope I have in Christ guide me as I live my life. Love is the foundation beneath it all.
Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love—but the greatest of these is love.
INSPIRATION
We find help for inspiration in many places.
If we keep our eyes and ears open at home or out and about, there is so much to observe. Our imaginations will aid us as we study what we see around us.
God has created a beautiful world full of a variety of creatures, plants, colors and textures. You could think of it as a vast canvas full of great ideas for art or writing. The possibilities are endless.
HELP FOR WRITING
As I prepare to write posts for this October series, I spend time looking through my art journals. Keeping the prompt word in mind helps me find pages to fit. Then I take a photo of it and put it in a folder along with the prompt word for that day. When I begin to write I may use the pages I chose or I might find something entirely different.
Sometimes having it quiet at night while relaxing at home is a good aid for writing inspiration.
Also, there are times at night when I lie in bed unable to sleep. When this happens, I usually spend some time in prayer. An idea for a poem has also come to me at times during the night.
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches,
For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
HELP FROM FRIENDS
Writing every day this month has been a good discipline for me. The writing was to be done in five minutes on a particular topic, but I often went over. I tend to overthink the topic and then have trouble narrowing it down.
Friends are some of the best helpers.
Writing every day in October is a big task. I don’t think I would have gotten this far without the help of my friends, Bettie and Anna. We have chatted nearly every day, shared our words to be prayed over, and made suggestions to help each other.
Since we have to communicate online, we even wrote out prayers to intercede on behalf of one another. They have truly shown themselves to be friends that love all the time.

What about you? If you are writing the 31 Days, where have you found help? If not, where do you find help in your everyday life?
This is Day 22 of Five Minute Friday 31 Days of Free Writes, and the prompt word is help.

Dear Gayl,
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of watching God bring forth His good gifts here. As my own creativity has had to channel in different directions, you have been such a gift and blessing to me. May the Lord continue to give you His inspiration and help to share from the deep places of your heart. Blessings, love, and hugs to you my dear poet/sister/friend. xoxo
Dear Bettie,
I thank you for being such an inspiration and blessing to me! It brings me joy, too, to know that I have been a blessing to you. I appreciate your encouragement every day, dear Bettie. Blessings, love and hugs right back to you, dear poet/sister/friend! xoxo
Thank you, Gayl, for your inspiring art and words. There isn’t much opportunity for creativity in hospital. Your word today, HELP, sustains me when I’m weary. God has revealed His help in many ways these past weeks.
Dear Lisa,
I’m so glad my words and art were inspiring. I know it’s so hard to be in the hospital. You’ve had so much happening lately, and you are such and example of trusting in God for His help and sustaining power and love. May He grant healing and comfort soon. Blessings, love and hugs to you! xo
Beautiful artwork and beautiful message.
Dear Melissa,
Thank you so much! It’s nice to have you visit. May God bless you today and throughout the week! Hugs!
Love the Psalms you shared here.
They are comforting, aren’t they? Blessings to you, Tara! xo
My help is found in the Lord God who made heaven and earth and all that is in them… Grateful for His grace, mercy and never ceasing love.
Amen, Bette! Have a wonderful week. Blessings to you! xo
Gayl, you have inspired me so much as I’ve devoured your art work and words today, and over the last few weeks. Help has been given in the shape of inspiration and creating something different, yet side by side with you. The Bible verses you have shared have also helped direct and shape my thoughts in my own journey of writing and faith. And you couldn’t have two better Jesus-with-skin-on companions and friends than Bettie and Anna. They’re splendid women of faith, inspiring sisters in Christ, encouraging and supportive friends and tremendous prayer warriors as well! I’m so glad they’ve been cheering you on and giving you fellowship as you’ve been doing this #write31days challenge. Blessings, love and hugs! xoxo
Oh, Joy, your words are so encouraging to me. I love how our creating coincides as we share and give glory to God. You are such an inspiration to me, too. I love how God intersects our lives and we can encouraging each other. Yes, I have been so blessed with the support from Bettie and Anna during this month. They are great cheerleaders and prayer warriors as you said. And yes, wonderful sisters in Christ with deep faith. More “kindred spirits” just like you are, dear Joy. Blessings love and hugs to you! xoxo
