Gentle Yet Mighty, Savior of the World, King of All

GENTLE JESUS

This week For Five Minute Friday, Kate chose the word, gentle. The first thought that came to my mind was of a hymn I heard long ago called Gentle Jesus, Meek and Mild. And as I thought of the meekness of Jesus, I also thought of His greatness and power. He is gentle yet mighty. King of kings and Lord of lords. And His kingdom will never end.

 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. ~ Psalm 45:6 NIV

I pondered those thoughts, and almost right away a poem began to form in my mind. So I started writing the words as they came – Gentle and mild, as meek as a child….. And it didn’t take long to write the rest of the poem.

GENTLE AND MIGHTY

Gentle and mild, as
meek as a child, yet
strong and mighty, our

Savior, Redeemer,
Messiah and Lord,
Name above all names,

King over all kings
With love and justice
He holds his scepter

In heaven on high
His throne is settled
lasting forever

Gentle and mild, yet
Strong and mighty, He
holds us in His hand

~gsw~
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. ~ John 10:28-30 CSB

This Easter season, let’s remember that Jesus, both God and man, loved us enough to become one of us. He gave up His life for us. And with His death and resurrection brought us new life and a promise to be with Him forever. Amen.
