THE CANDLE
This post first appeared in my previous blog on March 24, 2014. The following picture was a prompt in a Reframing Collective, which was a part of an online group of women writers. As I gazed at the picture, I thought of how the burning candle beckons, and was inspired to write a poem.

THE BURNING CANDLE BECKONS
The candle is brightly burning
Beckoning all to see
Bringing hope in darkness
Safety for you and me
The candle is brightly burning
Beckoning me to come.
It’s warm inside and cozy.
Peace in this place called home.
May my life be burning brightly,
Beckoning in the night,
Pointing others to Jesus,
Who is the one true Light.

Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world.
Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
A PROMPT FOR YOU

So beautiful Gayl! I love this thought about the light:
“Bringing hope in darkness
Safety for you and me”
Truly, there is a safety in light, and the best safety of all is in the light of Jesus. And what hope He stirs in our hearts when we see that glimmer in the darkness. I am glad you shared this re-post, since I had not seen this one. Blessings, love, and hugs to you my dear poet/sister/friend!
Thank you so much, dear Bettie! Yes, I guess you wouldn’t have seen it, because it was in 2014, and I think we started reading each other’s blogs in 2016. And yes, the best safety is in the light of Jesus. Our hope is real and sure in Christ. Blessings, love and hugs right back to you my dear poet/sister/friend! xoxo
Thank you, Gayl, for sharing this. I am noticing the “dark” during these days we are living. I pray my life burns brightly, pointing those around me to Jesus, the true Light and our Hope.
Amen, Joanne! I pray that God will shine His light through us so that others can find their way to our true and only Hope and Light, Jesus! Blessings to you and may you and yours have a Blessed Merry Christmas! xo
